Northern Cardinals are my favorite birds to photograph. The male cardinal brings welcome color to dreary winter days. The female cardinal’s color offers a nice contrast, and since they travel together, there’s a chance to get them both in one picture.

The recognizable song and chirps of Northern Cardinals are great for determining where they might be perched, allowing you to get some great pictures.

Finally, Northern Cardinals seem to have a personality all their own. Their behaviors and expressions make them fun to photograph.

I hope you enjoy seeing the Nothern Cardinal bird pictures I’ve taken over the past few years at Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Pleasantville, New York.
